A Kitenge is a Kanga's sister cloth. Both 100% printed cotton. The differences is in measurement and thread counts.Kitenge tend to be more closely woven than Kanga. Is a five yards (four meter) , printed in a continuous style, not in panels. Kitenge may have side borders or no borders at all. Kitenge really carry phrases as in Kanga, word can be added in Kitenge for special occasions only, like in memorable events.Pattern and color depend on the current fashion. Kitenge is similar to what is known in West Africa as Wax-print.
A Kitenge is a beautiful table cloth or covering for a couch. You can make garments out of them – as you can see with our shirts and skirts – and for example pillow cases and curtains. A Kitenge can be used as a baby-sling. The possibilities are endless.
